With the price of tools and DIY equipment at an all-time high, a Badaptor is the perfect way to save some money when it comes to expanding your tool collection. Providing the ability to use your current 18V battery on another tool system, at a fraction of the cost of a new battery, sounds like a no-brainer. However, we understand that some potential users have questions about the safety requirements when using battery adapters. Here are some basic do’s and don’ts when it comes to getting the most out of your adapter.
Battery adapters convert batteries from one brand to work with cordless tools from another brand. These are becoming increasingly popular as many consumers prefer to mix and match their tools and batteries, rather than buy all their tools from a single brand. This could also be due to cost or availability of certain tools.
Some companies make adapters to convert older style batteries, such as Nickel Cadmium (NiCad) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH), to work with newer tools that are only compatible with lithium-ion batteries. This is a budget-friendly way to extend the life of an old battery.
Conversely, some companies will make adapters that convert the newer lithium-ion batteries to work with older generations of cordless tools. Companies such as DeWalt used to update their batteries with each new generation of tool, requiring users to buy another battery if they purchased a new tool. However, the advancement of battery technology has put a stop to this.
At Badaptor, we design and manufacture battery adapters that convert 18V lithium-ion batteries from DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch Professional, Ridgid, or AEG to work with the entire range of over 150 Ryobi One+ tools.
Our Badaptors have been rigorously tested to make sure they are structurally robust and secure in any Ryobi tool. There are no internal mechanisms inside the Badaptor, so as long as you are using an 18V battery, there is nothing that can go wrong.
Badaptors are simply battery adapters, and do not contain a cut-off system to stop the battery from being used past the point of recharge. With this in mind, you should always observe good practice, paying close attention to the battery levels to make sure you stop using the battery when performance starts to drop. This will prevent deep discharge and extend the life of your battery.
Badaptors are also not designed to charge different brands of battery using a Ryobi charger. As each battery manufacturer has different charging specifications, Badaptors are not electronically compatible with other manufacturers’ charging systems, and won’t allow charging to take place in these cases.

If the advice above is followed, you can safely enjoy all the benefits a Badaptor has to offer. We believe that if you have bought into a tool system, you shouldn’t have to pay vast amounts of money if you decide to buy a new tool outside of that system.
A Badaptor is a far more cost-effective alternative to a new battery. Choose from Badaptors that convert 18V batteries from DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, Bosch Professional, Ridgid, or AEG to work with all the tools in the Ryobi One+ range.
