Planning a road trip or long car journey this summer? Protect your car and make sure that everything’s in good working order before heading out. Here are four key areas to consider.
Your car’s exterior can suffer in all weathers, so be sure to maintain its finish with regular cleaning and polishing. Stop dirt and grit building up with regular washing, and add wax to stop the harsh UV rays of summer from causing damage to your paintwork.
The Ryobi One+ 18V cordless buffer is ideal for applying wax and polishing out imperfections. With a 254mm buffing applicator, it covers large areas quickly and efficiently.
If your car’s been locked up in warm conditions, its interior can soon become stuffy and smelly. Pretty unpleasant if you’re about to embark on a long journey!
Make things more comfortable by cleaning the inside of your car too. Keep upholstery fresh with regular vacuuming, removing any crumbs or dirt that might be unhygienic or could cause a nasty smell.
With no cables, Ryobi’s One+ cordless hand vac is ideal for this. It’s easy to get round the whole of your car, and you can even take it with you to use on the road. It also includes a tool with an extendable bristle head, specially designed for getting into hard to reach places.
It’s important to be aware of your tyre pressure, particularly before any long journeys. An underinflated tyre can bulge out under your car, putting pressure on the sidewalls and increasing the risk of the tyre blowing. With the One+ cordless inflator from Ryobi, you can add pressure to your tyres virtually anywhere, and at any point in your journey.
General wear and tear is also something to watch out for when it comes to tyres. They naturally degrade when exposed to heat and sunlight (among other things), so check these regularly. If it’s time to change your tyres, and you want to do this yourself, the Ryobi One+ impact wrench can help.
Before taking any long journeys this summer, check under the bonnet of your car.
Heat can have a negative effect on your battery, causing high temperatures that can damage it and cause the liquid within to evaporate. Check that all the terminals are free of corrosion, dust and dirt, and consider getting your battery tested too.
Make sure you can see properly with a good light source, like the Ryobi One+ area light. This foldable light can be stood or hung up in any available space, leaving both hands free to work. It has three brightness settings and is rotatable too, so you can direct the light to where it’s needed.
If you don’t have a Ryobi One+ 18V battery, it doesn’t mean that you can’t use these tools to protect your car.
If you have a DeWalt 18-20V, Makita, Milwaukee or Bosch Professional 18V battery, you can convert it for use with the entire Ryobi One+ range of tools by using a Badaptor battery adaptor.
